The Environmentalist Double Standard
I was reading Boss Dodger’s post (http://bossdodger.wordpress.com/2008/06/24/environmentalists-need-to-sit-down-and-shut-up/) on Glenn Beck’s interview with Ben Stein and I got to thinking…
This is very similar to some of the positions that Greenpeace founder Patrick Moore took last year about the environmental movement: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1571/is_n38_v13/ai_19969858
The way Moore presents the issue, it is clear that the people involved in the environmental movement are more interested in fighting than developing solutions. They want to put companies out of business, not find ways for them to operate more cleanly.
And most telling is the fact that the people in these organizations don’t care about the fact that their activities can and do result in higher unemployment, lower wages, and inflation.
Don’t believe me? Look at what happened with oil. As Ben Stein pointed out last night on Glenn Beck’s show, if we had spent the last 10 years exploring and developing more oil opportunities, we wouldn’t be in this position today.
The obituary for social sites has been written and re-written so many times that it is getting ridiculous. There is nothing new here really. These systems have been with us since the beginning.
